[O] UFC 152 Jones vs. Belfort Official Update Line :-

i) Jon Jones has already disposed of three former UFC champions during his short reign as light heavyweight champion. At UFC 152, where he will face Vitor Belfort, Jones will attempt to add another former UFC champion to his growing list of victims.

ii) Belfort won the light heavyweight title by beating Randy Couture via cut in the opening minute of a January 2004 bout. Undoubtedly, Belfort—despite competing at middleweight for his past three appearances—will be looking to earn the belt more decisively against Jones.

iii) In addition to the 205-pound championship bout, Saturday's event will also feature the UFC's first ever flyweight title fight. After beating Yasuhiro Urushitani and Ian McCall in their respective semifinal bouts of a four-man tournament to determine the 125-pound division's first titleholder, former bantamweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson will try to capture the gold that eluded them at 135 pounds.

iv) A middleweight matchup between Michael Bisping and Brian Stann will also be featured on the UFC 152 main card. The winner of that bout could take a big step toward a shot at the 185-pound title.

v) Before Saturday's event, which will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, the fighters will hit the scales on Friday at 4 p.m. ET. Video of the weigh-ins will be streamed live on the above video player.
After the weigh-ins, stay tuned to Bleacher Report for all the latest on UFC 152 and the rest of your MMA needs.

vi) Tumultuous would be a good way to describe the last few weeks for the UFC. There have been injuries on top of injuries and the scrapping of an entire fight card.Come Saturday night, we can hopefully put those bumps in the road behind us, even if it's only for a few hours and enjoy the fights that will be presented on the UFC 152 fight card.

vii) To get you ready for Saturday night, what follows are a few interesting facts and figures leading up to UFC 152, an event that will feature Jon Jones defending his light heavyweight crown against Vitor Belfort in the main event.

viii) Before he became a full-time mixed martial artist, Charlie "the Spaniard" Brenneman was a junior high school and high school Spanish teacher, hence the nickname. Brenneman is one of a handful of fighters who have made the leap from teaching to fighting.

ix) The most famous of these fighters being former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin. Other fighters who have worked as teachers are: Tim Hague, Mike Ciesnolevicz, Andy Wang, James Giboo, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Jared Hamman, Tom Lawlor and Roy Nelson.

Invicta Fighting Championships will return to "The Sunflower State" this Saturday night (July 28, 2012) at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The entire card will be streamed live on InvictaFC.com on fight night, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

Headlining the main event of Invicta FC 2 will be a thrilling bantamweight bout which features veteran submission specialist Shayna Baszler and Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.,

Also on tap are some other extremely intriguing 135 pound bouts which feature fighters like Canada's Alexis Davis, former Strikeforce title contender Liz Carmouche, elite striker Kaitlin Young and even Brazilian powerhouse Amanda Nunes.Lastly, undefeated Japanese grappler Ayaka Hamasaki takes on Lacey Schuckman in a 115 pound showdown.

Our Invicta FC 2 preview and predictions are posted after the jump:
135 lbs.: Shayna Baszler (14-6) vs. Sara McMann (5-0)

Shayna Baszler has been competed in women's MMA for a very long time, nearly nine years now. The submission ace also known as "The Queen of Spades" possesses extremely solid submissions skills, some of the most advanced and unique in all of somen's MMA. Baszler was one of the first fighters (male or female) to ever catch an opponent in a twister and she has experience against some of the best in the world ranging from Sarah Kaufman to Cristiane Santos.

Sara McMann took home the silver medal in the 2004 Olympic games and when she came back to the states, she felt her job wasn't finished just yet. The incredible athletic specimen took up Brazilian jiu-jitsu and transitioned to mixed martial arts and the rest is history. She has steadily increased her opposition level, recently defeating Japanese grappler Hitomi Akano in her last bout to prove she can hang with the division's elite.

Baszler is catch wrestling based and is a protege of Josh Barnett so she really knows what she's doing on the canvas, but the problem will be controlling an Olympic caliber ground fighter in McMann. The other issue for Baszler is the fact that she's spent so much time since her last fight that McMann has had her entire career in women's MMA take place in the interim. I feel Baszler's experience will help her stay in the fight, but McMann's athletic gifts and incredible learning curve will put her over the top.

Final Prediction: Sara McMann via decision
135 lbs.: Alexis Davis (11-5) vs. Hitomi Akano (18 -9)

Alexis Davis is one of the top female fighters hailing from Canada. The veteran got her start in 2007 (against eventual Strikeforce women's champion Sara Kaufman) and her strength of competition hasn't dropped much since. She's stepped into the cage against some extremely talented ladies and has been victorious more often than not. Most recently she scored a rematch against Kaufman and held her ground, putting on one of the most entertaining fights of 2012 in an absolute war although she came out of it on the losing end.

Hitomi Akano is an extremely dangerous submission-based fighter out of Japan. The "Girlfight Monster" is a protege of legend Megumi Fujii and has one of the best armbars in the business. Akano has also faced elite competition, making it to the finals of the single night Strikeforce women's number one contender event before losing a decision to Miesha Tate and then recently dropping a hard-fought decision to current main eventer Sara McMann.

I feel Akano will be game, but Davis is going to be bigger, stronger and a better striker as well. Akano's best strength is the ground but Davis is no joke there either, even recently competing in the world grappling expo's pay-per-view event against Kyra Gracie. I think Davis can not only win this fight, but potentially earn a stoppage via strikes either on the feet or on the ground.

Final Prediction: Alexis Davis via TKO in round two
135 lbs.: Liz Carmouche (6-2) vs. Kaitlin Young (6-5-1)

Now THIS is one of the fights that excites me the most on the main card. Liz Carmouche is a former Strikeforce 135 pound title challenger. The "Girl-rilla" is an ex-marine who trains out of Team Hurricane Awesome and is one of the most impressive athletic and physical specimens in the women's 135 pound division. She recently bounced back from a pair of high profile defeats to soundly beat Ashleigh Curry at the first Invicta event.

Kaitlin Young is one of the most entertaining and talented strikers in the women's 135 pound division. Her biggest claim to fame was winning three fights in one night including a knockout over Miesha Tate with all three victories lasting just 1:45 combined. Davis is a beast in terms of striking and she proved it in her last fight, a thrilling back-and-forth war against Leslie Smith on the inaugural Invicta show which took home "Fight of the Night" and was also one of the best fights, male or female, of the year.

Young is going to want to keep this fight standing as Carmouche has some of the most dangerous ground and pound in the division. If she can keep it on the feet, she'll likely be working to use her length with kicks and jabs to keep Carmouche at bay. Carmouche definitely wants to close the distance either in the clinch or on the ground and something tells me she'll be able to neutralize Young's elite striking by getting inside, but she'll have a hard time putting the veteran away.

Final Prediction: Liz Carmouche via decision
115 lbs.: Ayaka Hamasaki (7-0) vs. Lacey Schuckman (7-4)

Ayaka Hamasaki is one of the most promising young female 115-pounders on the planet. The undefeated kickboxer and grappler is the reigning Jewels 115 pound champion and defended her title last May via first round submission. Hamasaki is dangerous both standing and on the ground and she'll be looking to prove it in the Invicta cage here in America for the first time.

Lacey Schuckman is a very game fighter as evidenced by the fact she took this fight on short notice for Jasminka Cive in the first place. She is a ground-based fighter with a "finish or be finished" mentality. She will be looking to either submit or knock out Hamasaki on the ground.

While Schuckman has faced some tough names, she hasn't been able to string together consecutive victories for a couple years now. I feel Hamasaki is too technical and dangerous for Schuckman here, despite the fact that she's dropping down a weight class.

Final Prediction: Ayaka Hamasaki via submission in round one
135 lbs.: Amanda Nunes (6-2) vs. Raquel Pa'Aluhi (2-2)

Amanda Nunes is one of the scariest female fighters today. "The Lioness" is always looking to tear her opponents' heads off and she stopped six fights in a row via strikes including Strikeforce's Julia Budd in just 14 seconds in her debut on the Challengers event in 2011. Nunes experienced a setback against co-main eventer Alexis Davis in her bantamweight debut, but she's still just as lethal as ever.

Raquel Pa'Aluhi is fearless. She stepped in for this fight on less than two week's notice when Leslie Smith went down with an injury. Pa'Aluhi has faced elite competition like Sarah D'Alelio and Sara McMann although she's come up short on both instances.

If Pa'Aluhi can weather the early storm from Nunes, she's got a shot, but that's asking a lot of a fighter who hasn't had much time to prepare for a beast like Nunes. I'm expecting Nunes to come out throwing bombs and trying to end this quick and she'll probably be able to pull it off.

Final Prediction: Amanda Nunes via TKO in round one
So what do you think, Maniacs?

With no UFC, Strikeforce or Bellator taking place this weekend, will you be tuning in to Invicta Fighting Championships? Who are you most looking forward to watching compete on this fight card?Sound off!

While UFC 149 may easily be the most injury-plagued card of all time, but that doesn't mean there aren't some fights worth watching on Saturday night.

The main event of the evening gives two elite bantamweights a chance to win the interim title with champion Dominick Cruz on the shelf with an ACL injury.

"The California Kid," Urijah Faber could be looking at his last title shot in the UFC when he takes on the versatile Renan Barao.

Opening up the main card, welterweights Chris Clements and Matt Riddle are ready to throw down and put on a show.

Staying at 170 pounds, Brian "Bad Boy" Ebersole has no issues fighting twice in one month when he steps up against James Head.

In a heavyweight clash, Cheick "The French Sensation" Kongo squares off against Shawn "The Savage" Jordan in what could be an entertaining slug fest.

In the co-main event of the evening, Hector "Lightning" Lombard makes his long-awaited Octagon debut against Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch.

Predicting the action this week are Bleacher Report MMA Featured Columnists Dan Hiergesell, Jeffrey McKinney, Matt Juul and myself, John Heinis.

Take a look inside to get an in-depth analysis of the action.

[o] UFC on FUEL TV 4: Mark Munoz vs Chris Weidman Live Story Line :-
With his win over Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, Anderson Silva made the 10th defense of his UFC Middleweight title. After taking care of Yushin Okami in his last defense and now Sonnen, Silva seems to have gotten rid of all the challengers who he had a sense of unfinished business with. As a result, the slate for potential challengers is wide open. Which is both exciting and a bit confusing.

Lorenzo Fertitta has publicly asked fans who they want to see face Silva next, and there are no shortage of options. The trouble is, for one reason or another, none are fantastic options. Michael Bisping is the most marketable choice, though he is coming off a loss to Sonnen and is currently sidelined with an injury. You also have two possible #1 contender matches coming up, with Chris Weidman vs. Mark Munoz on Fuel tomorrow, and Hector Lombard vs. Tim Boetsch at UFC 149 next week. But none of those men have much star power. Then there's the new wild card - Rashad Evans. The former UFC Light Heavyweight champion has publicly challenged Silva. So what to do? To me, the answer is clear.

[o] Rashad Evans should face the winner of Weidman vs. Munoz Live :-

While an Evans vs. Silva fight is clearly the best possible Middleweight title fight at the moment, now is not the time. Evans is coming off a loss, and no one coming off a loss should be thrown into a title fight. (Yes, yes, Dan Henderson, but that was a special case as he was the Pride champion and was unifying the belts.) He's also never made the cut to 185. Give him a trial fight to make that cut and get acclimated so that he is better used to the weight when he faces Silva. That both gives him a win and makes him better prepared for his showdown with Silva.

Related: UFC Dream Fight Anderson Silva Vs. Jon Jones, Dana White Not Ruling It Out | UFC 148 Results: Rashad Evans Asks To Fight Anderson Silva

And if Evans loses? Then either Munoz or Weidman has that signature name on their resume and can use the momentum to bounce into a fight with Silva.

In the meantime, Silva vs. the Boetsch/Lombard winner works. It's not the best fight ever, but we've seen less marketable contenders get shots before (Chad Mendes, Thales Leites) and we'll see it again in the coming months (Erik Koch, Renan Barao). But that lack of marketability is not a reason to immediately hotshot Evans into a title fight. Let him get comfortable, let him get that rebound win, and let the idea of needing to earn a title shot maintain some credibility.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2012, the fourth installment of the UFC on FUEL TV series will air live from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. In the main event of the evening, dominant wrestler Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz will square off against undefeated prospect Chris “All American” Weidman. Weidman has looked unstoppable so far, continually stepping up in competition and succeeding every time. Munoz, though, is by far the stiffest challenge he has had to face. Weidman is a well-rounded fighter with solid boxing who tends to rely heavily on his ground game, but Munoz is a more devastating puncher and has world-class wrestling that is going to make it difficult for Weidman to force a ground fight. This is a great test of how ready for the top of the division Weidman is at this point.

In high school, Simpson compiled a 142–1 record wrestling for Antelope Union High School in Wellton, Arizona while earning four state wrestling championships. He went on to compete at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, compiling 110 wins and earning NCAA All-American status in 1996 and 1998. Simpson was part of the transfer of light heavyweight and middleweight fighters in the WEC to the UFC. He made his debut at UFC Fight Night 18 by defeating Tim McKenzie.
He was set to have his second fight against Dan Miller on September 16, 2009, at UFC Fight Night 19.[4] Instead the fight was moved to UFC 102 where he fought Ed Herman. Simpson won by technical knockout when Herman went down with a knee injury in the second round.Simpson faced Tom Lawlor on January 11, 2010, at UFC Fight Night 20, defeating him via controversial split decision.[5]

Simpson was expected to face Chris Leben at UFC 114, but the bout took place instead on June 19, 2010, at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Finale.[6] Leben defeated Simpson via TKO (punches) at 4:17 of round 2. Simpson started out strong, using his wrestling to bring the heavier hitting Leben down multiple times. In the second round, Simpson came out gassed and ate multiple shots against the cage before turning and running away, falling against the cage, forcing the referee to save him.

Simpson was expected to face Dave Branch on September 15, 2010, at UFC Fight Night 22, but was forced to pull out of the bout with a staph infection.[7]Simpson faced Mark Muñoz on November 20, 2010, at UFC 123.[8] He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
